RJ Ammons

RJ joined Dunnam & Dunnam in 2024 when returning to Waco to practice as a trial lawyer. Originally from Houston, he distinguished himself in both athletics and academics during his formative years. In high school, RJ was elected captain of the track team when his 9:03 two-mile time made him the fastest high school runner in Texas and then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory.

RJ studied Economics and Government while at Harvard College and then graduated Cum Laude from Baylor Law School. During his tenure at Baylor Law, he was an active member of the Baylor Barrister Society, competed on multiple advocacy teams, and won Best Negotiation for Seller’s Counsel at the 2021 UCLA Transactional Law Competition.

Following his academic pursuits, RJ joined the Global Banking & Markets Division of Goldman Sachs. While working as a lawyer and negotiator for Goldman, RJ collaborated with investment bankers, traders, and risk managers to provide the bank’s clients with billions of dollars in financing for fixed-income and equity securities portfolios, including government bonds, structured products, and derivatives. After three years, he decided he could make a more meaningful impact by using his legal skills to help people in the courtroom instead of companies in the boardroom.

RJ moved back to Waco to practice law at Dunnam & Dunnam, where he has quickly found himself helping people in court most days. His practice still includes areas of Corporate Law such as advising on real estate transactions while focusing primarily on all aspects of contested litigation, from Civil Trial to Personal Injury, Consumer Law, Commercial Law, Criminal Law, and Family Law.

RJ spends his free time with family and friends, playing golf, and volunteering as a judge for the advocacy competitions held at Baylor Law School.
