Drivers who frequent the intersection of Rosewood Drive and U.S. Highway 190 in Killeen may want to avoid the area after a rash of collisions has plagued the new intersection in recent weeks.
According to observers at businesses in the area, there have been at least eight collisions in the last seven days and several other collisions since the beginning of February. That number was confirmed by Ken Roberts of the Texas Department of Transportation.
Fatal accident
One recent accident was a fatality. A motorcycle accident Feb. 10 killed Eric Eugene Cheney, 41, of Killeen, as he tried to cross underneath U.S. 190 traveling north on Rosewood Drive, according to Killeen police.
“It’s been bad,” said Kevin Adams, general sales manager of Bates Nissan near the intersection of Rosewood and 190. “The fatality accident was actually on our side (on the northwest side of the intersection). All of them have been in the same exact spot. The fatality one, I was three cars behind that one when it happened.”
Ken Roberts, a Texas Department of Transportation spokesman, said his office is working with the city of Killeen to ascertain why so many collisions are happening.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a Killeen car accident, it is important to contact a personal injury attorney about the situation.
