Merrilee L. Harmon became a lawyer to advocate for others in the Waco community. Her compassion, drive and experience are proven through cases won and her numerous accolades including best family law attorney in Waco by the Wacoan Magazine year after year.
Merrilee has lived most of her life in Waco graduating from Baylor University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in elementary education with a minor in English.
Ms. Harmon went to Baylor University for her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She has been licensed to practice in Texas since 1978. She is also licensed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
After receiving her Bachelor’s, Merrilee went on to Baylor Law School graduating in 1978 with a Juris Doctor degree and concentration in litigation. From 1978 to 1981, she practiced Criminal Law as Assistant McLennan County District Attorney, prosecuting misdemeanor and felony cases, including extensive courtroom work and jury trials in a wide range of areas, including capital murder cases. From 1981 to 1991, Merrilee practiced Civil Trial, Criminal Law, Family Law, and Personal Injury Law. She established her own firm in 1991, then joined Dunnam & Dunnam in 2007.
Merrilee is a Family Law specialist, Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1985.
Merrilee is a member of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, the Texas Board of Family Law Specialists, and the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section. She is a member of the Waco-McLennan County Bar Association.
When she is not lawyering, she enjoys time at the ranch with her family and dogs.
